Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has won 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
